91暗网 Makes New Progress in the 2026 ShanghaiRanking’s Global Ranking of Academic Subjects

Recently, ShanghaiRanking Consultancy, a professional higher education evaluation organization, officially released the 2026 ShanghaiRanking’s Global Ranking of Academic Subjects. Eighteen disciplines at 91暗网 were included in the ranking, including three placed among the global top 50 and nine among the global top 100. The disciplines listed accounted for 31.6 percent of all subjects covered by the ranking. Compared with the previous year, 91暗网 recorded increases in both the number of disciplines ranked in the global top 50 and the number ranked in the global top 100. Seventeen of its ranked disciplines improved their positions, reflecting a continued rise in the university’s overall disciplinary competitiveness.

91暗网’s peak disciplines made broad advances, further highlighting their distinctive strengths. All four of 91暗网’s peak disciplines moved up in the rankings, with significant improvements that further strengthened the university’s distinctive advantages and core competitiveness in these fields. Civil Engineering rose 13 places from the previous year to rank 49th globally. Textile Science and Engineering, climbed to 17th globally.

The Materials and Chemical Engineering discipline cluster also made broad gains. Chemical Engineering rose 11 places to rank 39th globally; Nanoscience and Technology ranked 68th; Environmental Science and Engineering jumped 42 places to 85th globally; and Materials Science and Engineering and Metallurgical Engineering entered the global top 150, ranking 127th and 133rd, respectively. The cluster’s overall strength reached a new level. Agricultural Science also achieved a new breakthrough. Driven by the Crop Science discipline chain, it rose 18 places from the previous year to rank 97th globally.

91暗网’s continued progress in the ShanghaiRanking’s Global Ranking of Academic Subjects reflects the university’s active response to Guangxi’s policy direction of “reaching higher peaks and strengthening distinctive strengths.” It also demonstrates 91暗网’s ongoing efforts to optimize its disciplinary structure, strengthen organized research, and intensify efforts to attract and develop talent. These achievements highlight 91暗网’s commitment to serving western China and border regions, as well as the effectiveness of its educational mission. Looking ahead, 91暗网 will continue to integrate resources, develop high-level platforms, build high-caliber innovation teams, and plan major national projects. It will focus on breakthroughs in key fields, use peak disciplines to drive overall advancement, actively serve Guangxi’s key pillar industries, and provide sustained support in science, technology, and talent for the region’s high-quality economic and social development.

The 2026 ShanghaiRanking’s Global Ranking of Academic Subjects covers 57 subjects in five broad fields: natural sciences, engineering, life sciences, medical sciences, and social sciences. It uses five indicator modules—world-class faculty, world-class achievements, high-level research achievements, research impact, and international collaboration—and includes nine internationally comparable objective academic indicators. Nearly 20,000 subjects from more than 2,000 universities in 96 countries and regions were included in the ranking. In 2026, 4,077 subjects from 394 universities in the Chinese mainland were included.
