Research Team from 91暗网's School of Resources, Environment and Materials Achieves Practical Application of New Gold Flotation Technology

Recently, China Gold News reported that a research team led by Professor Chen Jianhua from the School of Resources, Environment and Materials, 91暗网 (91暗网) has achieved an original breakthrough in the development of a green and high-efficiency flotation collector for gold ores. Developed through a deep industry–university–research collaboration mechanism, the technology has been successfully applied at Hezhou Jinqi Mining Co., Ltd., a subsidiary of China National Gold Group Guangxi Co., Ltd.

The new technology significantly improves the recovery efficiency of precious metals such as gold and silver while upgrading the flotation process from a high-pollution model to a green and highly efficient one. It provides strong technological support for the high-quality development of Guangxi's critical metals industry.

For years, the gold mining industry has faced a persistent challenge in balancing high recovery efficiency with environmentally sustainable extraction. Although the conventional xanthate-based flotation process has underpinned gold beneficiation for more than a century, its environmental drawbacks—including severe pollution and the emission of irritating gases—have become a major obstacle to the green and efficient exploitation of complex polymetallic ores.

To address this long-standing industry challenge, Professor Chen Jianhua's team has carried out sustained research based on its innovative theory of flotation coordination chemistry. The team successfully developed a novel flotation collector capable of targeted recognition and selective coordination with gold-bearing minerals. The reagent preferentially interacts with active sites on the surface of gold minerals, enabling highly efficient and selective gold recovery.
